Month 14: And We're back

Oops, it's been almost a year since we've left a footprint on here, but don't worry, this mom will be blogging again very very soon. In the meantime, here are the only photos I have on my computer atm. Photos from his 30-minute-3-outfit-changes one year photo shoot.

Month 3 (Part 2): Jaxon's First UCLA game

woohoo..UCLA finally won a game. They lost the past two games.

We brought Jaxon to a 6pm game at the Rose Bowl. I started preparing all the things at 2pm and we finally left around 3:45pm.

Anyways, here are some things I learned about bringing a baby to a football game:

1) Read the stadium's guidelines beforehand
I remember reading that strollers weren't allowed and bags larger than 14" were also prohibited. However, I got a metal water bottle which was filled with extra boiled water taken away because you can't bring in metal canisters. Oops.

2) Headphones
It gets loud at games. Whether your home team is winning or losing. We bought Baby Banz and put it on Jax during most of the game. He was passed out for 90% of the game (win-win)

3) Overpack
Pack everything in your diaper bag and more. Always better to have more than less. Thankfully, we didn't need to change Jaxon at all at the stadium. We put on Pampers baby dry diapers which claims to have 12 hours of protection.

4) Formula
We pre-filled a bunch of these Medela Bottles with boiled waters and pre-filled this formula dispenser and when Jaxon was ready to eat, we just poured the powder into the water. I wish I knew about these Mixie bottles ahead of time.

5) Babywearing
I wore Jaxon for a good majority of the game. Boba Wrap game changer. Saved my back too.
just arrived to the stadium

leaving the game mid 4th quarter since UCLA was dominating
Jaxon had a great time. We'll be back next season.

It was an experience for both Jax and mom. I would do it all over again. Just as long as it's not scorching hot. Next challenge: tailgate AND go to game.

Month 3 (Part 1): Incontinence

Incontinence was a new term to me postpartum. Right after my anesthesia and catheter wore off after Jaxon's arrival, I lost 100% control of my bladder. The moment they transferred me from my delivery bed to the wheelchair, I peed all over myself and the poor nurses. Oops, that was embarrassing. They made me feel better and said it happens to all new moms. Anyways, fast forward a few days, I was still peeing everywhere. I wore grandma diapers and a few pads all at the same time. I was so worried because I thought it was permanent. I quickly emailed my OB to ask and she said it's called urinary incontinence and that I needed to do 3 sets of 10 kegels daily.

Here I am..month 3, I still am having issues :( Although it's much better than before, I still don't have full control of my bladder. I have to use the bathroom every hour on the clock (minus when I'm sleeping of course). This is my current obstacle I need to overcome things that I was never told post-pregnancy!!
Recent purchase on Amazon just in case..

Month 2 (Part 3): J & J

J & J = Jaxon & Jessica

We are best buddies. We spend 24/7 with each other. We eat together, we sleep together, we ride together and we play together.
Butt Selfies..hehe

It's almost been a month since I've taken Jax on my own. Thank goodness that this boy STTN (sleeps through the night) or else I would have lost my sanity. THANK YOU JAXON! I love you more than life itself. <3<3

Month 2 (Part 2): First Trip Up North

Once Jaxon got his first round of shots on Tuesday and we noticed that he didn't spit it out or have any side effects, we got the thumbs up to take Jaxon out of town. More like, take ME out of LA. I haven't been out of Southern Californiao since January and I don't think Bakersfield and the OC count (wouldn't you agree??) Puo Puo (Jaxon's maternal grandmama & my mama) had graciously already stayed with us for two months slaving away in the kitchen, helping us run errands and taking care of jax in the wee hours of the morning. She was ready to plan her escape back to the bay. However, she did not know that we were planning to come along!!

So on Wednesday, we (puo puo and me), poor hubby had to work the rest of the week decided to take Jaxon on his very first spontaneous road trip to Saratoga.

We MADE IT!
First morning in Saratoga. All smiles for baby J
This is what baby prison looks like..hehe
Overall, it was an easy and non-stressful trip for us. Jaxon slept pretty much the entire time, but if the car was going slower than 30 mph he started screaming. Next trip, La Jolla. See you soon San Diego <3

[Edit]: I got lazy, but my sister / deputy's momma "yelled" at me for not giving deputy a shout out. Jaxon finally got to meet his dog cousin in person! Jaxon preferred to sleep than to play with his furry cousin. Deputy has a liking to males, but didn't seem to find Jaxon all that interesting. Maybe because Jaxon can't give him belly rubs yet.

Month 2 (Part 1): SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS

SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, EVERYBODY...

Week 7: We went to see our pediatrician for Jaxon's first round of shots. Daddy wanted to get ALL the shots done at once, but Dr. Canale vetoed that idea. WHEW! He got two sets of shots. One was an oral one that they syringed into his mouth and the other was a needle shot. Man, he ate the oral liquid like it was CANDY. I read that parents sometimes cry more than their babies during the shots. I didn't feel any sadness. Jax handled it like a champ! He cried for a good minute and was like, "Alright, when's lunch?"

Month 1: The days are slow, but the weeks are fast.

They say, "The days are slow, but the weeks are fast. So so true. Another "I can't believe" moment..tomorrow Jaxon is six weeks old. The past weeks have been a blur.

Let's recap what I can remember:

Week 0: Bringing Jaxon home from the hospital and all that adrenaline kicked in. Who needs sleep anyways? At that point, J was sleeping over 20 hours a day and so peacefully. We had to wake him up to feed him. It was easy. We watched him sleep. We "fought" over who got to change his diaper. We oOed and aahed about the color of his poop. We dressed him in onesies that had a million buttons.

Week 1: Jaxon was loosing too much weight too quickly. He was slightly tongue-tied at birth. We tried BF [breastfeeding], but my nipples were inverted and he couldn't quite get a good latch. It was very frustrating. We tried all sorts of nipple inverter products, talked to LC [lactation consultant] and a doula. BF was the most painful thing I've experienced ever..100000x worse than pushing out a watermelon. My nipples were cracked and bleeding and every feeding..I was SCREAMING. What was wrong with me?
First car ride. Destination: Home Sweet Home

Week 2: We started Jaxon on formula while I continued to pump. Once Jaxon started on formula, it was life changing. He was happier, slept better, and more importantly, I was at ease.

Bib from Auntie Feli from Mykonos, Greece

Week 3: Jaxon slept almost 6 hours at night for one night. Nuff said.
J&J Selfie: Showing Dad how much fun we are having at home
Jaxon LOVES LOVES bath time. So Mommy gives him daily baths
Week 4: Jaxon began "talking" to us. oOoooo so sweet, but mommy doesn't know wtf you're saying though. you're lucky you're cute!

Week 5: Pumping is so time consuming. I am very lucky (Hi PoPo!) my mom has stuck around to help me some more. She fears that I will not be able to handle everything (Jaxon & household duties) when she leaves. She could be right. If any of you guys have tips on how to pump while being a SAHM (stay at home mom) with no extra hands..please send them my way.

This is how we sleep. Co-sleeping for the win.

Jaxon just slept for one hour straight which allowed me to power pump for an hour and write this blog post. Little victories.
