Week 27 (Part 2): Handle It!

Once again, I am back in a doctor's office, but this time, in a new environment. I got to meet Dr. Freeby, who's an endocrinologist at UCLA. They pricked me and checked my glucose level which was 85 right after eating breakfast so that was really good and my a1c level was 5 (want to aim for 4-6) so that went well too!

I'll have to prick my fingers 4x a day and keep track of my diet until baby j slides his way out. Holy crap, finger pricking hurts. I rather get an epidural or an ivy stuck inside me. Oh, and I am seeing a nutrition specialist in the next week ish.

The key to handling gestational diabetes is diet and exercise. Since I can't exercise, I have to be extra mindful about my diet. (Adios boba, ice cream, and all things deliciously sweet!)
My cute little medical kit
If you're looking for a high protein low carb snack, here's my current favorite combination (Wallaby Plain Lowfat Yogurt + 1 tbs Almond Butter + 1 oz of Granola = ~260 calories)

  1. I think that if your name is Dr. Freeby, your patients should never have to pay a bill. You should be forced to get all payments from insurance.
