My OB sends all her patients to see Dr. Tabsh who is a perinatologist doctor at UCLA. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I think he was suppose to check the baby's spine to make sure it was strong and healthy. Dr. Tabsh is known to have a tremendously long wait even with an appointment.
In the waiting room were a bunch of preggo ladies and some partners/husbands/whatever you want to call them. Woah, everyone has big bellies!!!! Unfortunately, I stood out because I was not showing just quite yet, but I already busted out my maternity jeans from The Loft hehe.
Jon joined me a little bit afterwards and we wait and wait and wait. Finally, I get to meet Dr. Tabsh! He is a man of few words, but seemed patient and knowledgeable. When it was time for my checkup, we got to see the baby on the ultrasound (yay!) I had no idea what I was looking at and I swear Dr. Tabsh was looking at the screen for almost an hour. I had a feeling something was not quite right...
Dr. Tabsh shared the news:
Good news: baby looks healthy and everything is growing at a steady and constant pace
Not-so-good news: my cervix is shorter than usual. I measured at 2.7 cm and normal cervix lengths are from 4-5cm.
I should have paid attention in biology class or when Jon teaches me some science. What's a cervix? Where is my cervix? What does it mean if I have a short cervix?
